Boreholes handover in Majosi and Nwamatatani village

The borehole drilling projects commenced in March 2024 and reached completion in October and November 2024, respectively. True to her word, the Executive Mayor had promised the community that access to clean water would be prioritised—and today, that promise has been fulfilled. The people of Hlanganani are now able to drink safe, clean water close to home.

During the handover, Cllr Nkondo made a heartfelt appeal to residents to safeguard public infrastructure, particularly water pipes and electrical transformers. She strongly condemned the ongoing incidents of vandalism and theft, stressing that such acts directly impact the availability of essential services.

“Let us protect what we have been given. When transformers are stolen and pipes are vandalised, it doesn’t only affect government—it affects you, the community. It interrupts your water supply and takes us backwards,” she said.

The Mayor called on community members, especially the youth, to become active guardians of these resources by reporting suspicious activities and discouraging acts that sabotage development.

“We’ve come a long way to ensure access to water. Let’s work together to maintain it,” she concluded.
